What's the most grusome death one of your fish has suffered?

Cory got sucked up in my filter. My first molly got dropsy or something and just blew up everywhere. One of my severums got destroyed, eyes were ripped out. It was really graphic

One of my killifish swam after a female, she was smaller than him and swam through a hole of stone, he tried to get after her but he became stuck and died.

I just remembered the Chinese Algae eater I bought for my 55g way back in 2006. The tank was thick with algae and I thought, "Cool. I won't have to feed him for a few days at least". The next morning he seemed rather plump and I was a little worried. Later that day I found him with his belly split right open. He'd apparently eaten himself to death.

I was a troubled youth, and at the age of 11 or 12 I took one of my dad's angelfish and put it into a cup of rubbing alcohol. :eek:The fish spazmed like crazy and secreted a substance like spit from the gills before keeling over.

To this day it bothers me I did that.

This wasn't recent and actually took place some 9 years ago when I was 10. My dad had a good 18 inch Jardini that he had been raising for some years. My little brother who was about 2 at the time decided it would be fun to throw toilet paper, medicine pills and whatever he could get his hands on into the tank. The Jardini started bashing it's head into the tank. I tried to stop it but I was too young to catch the thing and ultimately after about 15 minutes, it went bottoms up. Floated there breathing heavily for another half hour and died. The poor thing committed suicide because it could no longer take it.

The good thing is that it bothers you. If it didn't, I'd be worried...

my daughter (2 1/2) almost killed her american flag fish with hands covered in Desetin (diaper rash cream) after she finger painted the inside of the tank and threw a battery powered toy in there too! Little guy was down at the bottom breathing really hard for a LONG time. Cleaned his tank a couple of times, treated him, and he actually lived through it. So crap, not a death story but.....

I love that the kid is young enough to have diaper rash cream but old enough (?) to have her own American Flag fish. MFKer in the making.
