anyone wanna add some video/article or picture proof of their nominated species?

I already posted proof of ATF killing and eating fish considerably larger than they are. :)

The candiru proves you don't have to be the biggest to be the sacriest. I would worry more about them than a Pima, Gar, Stergon etc.

True. They might be something to be afraid of, and rightly so, but I don't think they count as the ultimate freshwater monster. In a one on one fight they'd be a prey item for most of the fish listed here.

sadly like chixc said, candiru aint top. it would be hard to penetrate a sturgeon pima or a gar, and I have never heard of a recorded case of this happening

I wasn't necessarly worried about the fish..............haha ;)

Hahaha I'm trackin'!

im leaning towards a gigantic sturgeon as top

It's a monster no doubt, but how would it go about killing something like a paima or gator gar? How would it avoid potentially lethal cumulative damage from something fast and toothy like a GATF or Glyphis shark?

EDIT- I present for consideration the hypothesis that if a 2' Hydrocynus brevis is proven to be able to amputate the tail of a 6' Nile perch to kill and eat it, a 4-5' GATF could very well amputate the tail of a 12-15' sturgeon to kill an eat it.

Thoughts?

I honestly believe the sturgeon would ram it, and im talking bout 20 foot kalugas and belugas

I doubt the sturgeon would be able to catch it to ram it. ATF are frighteningly maneuverable.

As for the 20' size, I don't think we can consider that to be anything close to normal. There was the one 24' beluga specimen from 1827, but aside from that most of the largest fish have been 16' or so. 20' fish may have been fairly common 10,000 years ago before significant human hunting pressure, but I'm sure they've gone the way of the 10' gator gars and the 300+ pound North American blue cats.

Anything over 10' for a beluga is exceptionally rare now and kalugas aren't capable of quite the same size as a beluga.

If you are talking about water beasts the alligator snapping turtle is defantly up there in most terrifying beasts. But, in fishI 100% agree that the candiru is the most terrifying simply for what it can do to human. I mean talk about painful.

then again.. to be honest.. I never really see 6 foot goliaths or ten foot paimas or gars tho
