This was before I learned about water changes and cycling( 1 y r ago haha) When the water in the tank wouldnt look clear I would pour some bleach into the tank until It was clear again. I did this like 2 times a week. When I would clean the filter out spic and span I would soak the pads in bleach water until they were white again. None of my fish died or anything. Its been little over a year now of doing it properly and they just keep getting bigger

i dont know how they survived that? and i thought i was bad when i used to rinse my filter media in tap water :nilly:

I cant say i have anything good to add from myself. But from working at a chain store, unfortunately some people like to keep saltwater fish in fresh for as long as they will live. Since they have no bearings of noticing how much different salt is, and my ever knowledgeable co-workers fail to ask.
Its usually damsels since they are cheap...one time a customer was keeping 3 of them in a bowl and those suckers survived because she had dumped in the water from the bag. Brought them back to the store once she found out and they were fine 2 days later.

The worst thing i have done {a few times} is not notice that a fish did not eat the pellets i gave him in the morning and my husband finds them on the bottom of the tank in the evening..:D He is :irked:

well uhh ive done a couple things(or let them happen at least) one time i was cleaning my goldfish tub ( i took a barrel and cut it in half to make a mini above ground goldfish pond) i was putting the gold fish in the holding bucket and one fell out so i put him int the pump there was a little water in there and it was unplugged next thing i know i hear an awful eerrrrrggggkkkrrrrrt my sister plugged in the pump and my gold fish got blended in the impeller.
then when i was down in the woods i noticed several kids with fire works firing them in a small stream with wild feeder guppies inside i thought nothing of it poor guppies it was like pearl harbor.

lol why strap guppies to it....does the guppie make the fireworks better?i rememeber i saw some lads getting frogs and putting rocks on them so the would be flatterned so me and my mates walked over and one of them through a dead frog at me.......long story cut short he ended up like the frogs hahah(we wer the same age btw he goes my school....thought some of you would think i had a fight with little kids?? but it was awhile ago like 5yrs ago)

 I got into a fight over fish once. I saw a kid that lives in my neighborhood hooking bass and then casting them out again, just because he thought it was funny that the fish "flew".. needless to say, he got a noseful. Of blood. :headbang2

IDIOT! But yeah, I usally have damsels for about 4-5 bucks. About the same price as a 2" convict.

I often use live bluegill in the 4-6" range for bait. When bass fishing I cast and reel in the 'gills sort of like a live lure. I still cringe everytime they hit the waterside ways make a big plop sound. Unfortunately they only survive about ten casts or so so I have to catch another gill for bait. The dead ones I feed to the turtles. They literally follow me around the pond I do this cause they know they are getting fed!

well when we found out we were having a baby, i started selling off my smaller tanks. my wife have a 29 african cichlid tank and she said there was only one fish she wanted to keep. i told her id put it in the 150 AC tank as long as it behaved. well...it didnt. started chewing off the fins on my frontosa and it had to go.
well after 2 hours of trying to catch a 2" fish in a 6' tank with heavy rock work i was so mad i lost my temper and threw the fish,(in the net) on the floor and the fish went splat!
