so what you are saying is, that this fish and 4 others were collected somewhere near the mexican/american border about 10years ago.

so that would make this to me a "natural" hybrid... becasue this fish no doubt appears to be a hybrid. however, i am not that well orientated with thorichtys species, other then the Fire Mouth "Meeki." so i cannot say there isn't a thorichtys species that looks like this.

if you don't mind, please ask your friend to provide a geographical location of where he collected them.

there isn't a thorichtys that looks quite like fish hybridize in the wild all the time

i cant help it,,he catched them by hisself
its not mixed up by people

near mexican border,,he was on travel in central amerca,,im gonna ask him what river it was
it is a thorichtys,,
first time ive seen it i was thinking thorichtys meeki x archocentrus nigrofasciatus..but there not spawning with eachother?
which mexican border?
because i dont think you would find these fish on the mexican/american border

where did i say mexican/american border?
ive said mexican border

so i think its more the mexican /guatamala /belize border..
ofcourse u cant find them near the american/mexican border,,,can find carpintes, cyanoguttatus there(texascichlid), but no thorichtys meeki, affinis, aureus, helleri, pasionis, callalepis, ellioti,or socolofi

this thread is pointless......

we all think its a hybrid. so why cant you agree with us, so what if its wild????? maybe they have wild hybrids who knows. but what i am sure of is that. the picture you posted is a HYBRID
