It seems like it's the current car fad. It's bad enough when the approaching car has them but I've been almost blinded by the car behind me and it just makes me wonder what a person would get out having such bright lights...Do these people get some kind of kick out of blinding other drivers?

just looks cool, no other logical reason. Most of them live in cities so it's not like they need it for dark roads. My friends get tickets for them all the time, cops don't play around about modifyed cars

Yeah, some of them do look nice, especially the ones that have a bluish tint to them but the intensity of those are dialed down quite a bit.I understand some of these lights require some type of installation kit and can be quite costly just like most car add ons...I often find myself having to turn my rear view mirror down to keep the glare from my eyes.

The issue is not the brightness of the bulb but the housing. Most of these kids will slap the HID bulb into a reflector housing meant for dimmer halogen bulbs and it reflects and scatters the light to the point of being blinding. If they spend another 100-200 then they could have gotten the projectors and aimed the light to lighten the road as well as not blind everyone out there.

I have HIDs in my Xterra and I can easily blind you should I move to the left slightly and get on your butt so as to hit your side mirror since the truck is tall but I dont. I spent the extra money on projectors. Thankfully my motorcycle already had em for its conversion.

Sorry I'm guilty of HID lights and Halo's. Just love the look of that brilliant white or blue rather than that yellow light coming off halogens. Though I try not to blind anyone. Most times that's caused by a dill hole tailgating then the light just pours into the rearview mirrors. Unfortunately for you guys the cost of installing a HID ballist has gone down significantly so you'll probably see them even more often now. Cost's about $250 average now seen it for $150. Plus car manufacturers are making it an option on every model.

They are the same kind of people who will block your way in the grocery aisle while they are texting and, as you pass them, look at you as if you did something wrong.

HIDs are cheaper then that if you look online through reputable guys like DDM Tuning when they have their sales. I pay $40 a side for light, ballast, and needed wiring.

Though you said you have halos and that drives up the cost...

Not just from the look of things but HIDs really are a HUGE benefit to seeing the road. it is like daylight out there when you have em.

Its been like this for years over here... although it seems like a lot of the newer cars already have HID lights in them... so now a days once it hits night time i'm always getting blinded by on-coming traffic which is mad annoying...
