okay so this is the first aro ive owned and trust me, i researched my ass off before i set him up. hes a 6 inch jardini.

when we first got him, he was fine, but now, he will not eat any prepared foods. i gave him a few crickets, and at first, he ate them, but now he wont eat anything!

also, when we first got him, he would constantly swim up near the top of the water, and seemed healthy, but now, he just hangs out near the filter intake all day and all night, occassionally taking a short swim to the other side of the tank, only to return to his little spot at the the bottom back left hand corner of the tank.

i should mention, when we first set him up, we were using a cascade 1200, but my fiance decided it was too loud and we hooked up a fluval fx5. it is much quieter, but ever since then, he hasnt eaten and he just hangs out near the intake.

help please

what do we do?:help2:

You probably need to answer a few questions before people can help you out:
How long has the tank been up and running?
What are the water parameters specifically, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, temperature?
When you changed from the cascade did you pull the fx5 right out of the box and hook it up before it was seeded with beneficial bacteria?
Are there any tankmates that might be stressing the jardini out?
What size is the tank?

If you write back with the answers to these questions I think people will be able to help you out better.

cheers...

I know this is prepped food but you could try some thawed frozen market shrimp as well. My Jar goes bananas over it.

beyond everything that has been asked, the aro seems stressed..is anything frightening it? shadows? sudden movements?

test for ammonia, nitrate and nitrite, yes if you change the filter you should need to recycle the tank, or get a bottle of bb and pour it in so its a bit cloudy at first but will clear up.

What are the water parameters, when having problems with fish this should always be the first thing you check.

You can also add something in there for them to hide at such a small age. Add some plant or decor for it to hide. I think changing the filter was a bad idea, because it has to recycle.
