The sump I just finished building is significantly louder than I expected. I notice that the line coming from the overflow is not completely full. I'm thinking it needs more restriction maybe? I was thinking if I re-do the hard plumbed part so the flexible line goes into a downward facing elbow. This would make the water have to travel vertically a little bit before emptying into the trickle tower. I think that it might help but I'm not sure if my thinking is correct. Here's a video.

Never restrict your drain unless you are going herbie/bean that is a recipe for flooding I think.

I thought the noise was coming from your tower. Are you thinking it is coming from the turbulent flow in your drain line itself?

No the noisy tower is a separate issue sorry I re-read my post and it was unclear. The pipe seems to be gurgling loudly from the amount of water in there.

I think the tower just needs more media to slow things down a bit.

This is my first time using the Durso standpipe so I'm sure there some simple trick to it.

This guy has a video showing how to quiet a Durso.

Thanks, for now I was able to take one of the "T's" for plumbing airline and cut off one of the 3 sections of it which I shoved into the top hole on the durso. It just needed some more restriction.

If its the water cascading sound that is the issue, none of the Durso type fixes will quiet it, the Durso quiets gurgle in the pipes.
I also agree about not restricting the outflow, because restricting it allows crud to build up in the line, the line gets blocked, and when it does water can get backed up in the tank and overflow from the tank. It has happened to me. All it takes is a dead fish, some plant matter, or even a few snails to cause a dam, and other crud get caught.

and as the tank fills with water, the pump gets starved, and if your not there to clean it out, the pump will burn out.
My suggestion would be to put baffling around the sump, to muffle the flow, or restrict flow on the outflow side if that doesn't work. All centrifugal pumps are made to be throttled back on the outflow, but starving them in any way will ruin them..
