if you work @ petco or petsmart you shouldnt even care what people want or do with those fish. They dont keep em in good conditions anyway and they overpriced.

But if you @ a LFS then yeaj boot they ***eS. Unless you got some fish they ask for that you need to get rid of.

Ha, dude. Shut your mouth. So because Petco and Petsmart are corporations, I shouldnt bother trying to sell the animals to people that will give them good living conditions. If i worked at a lfs, i should then be more strict with people, unless i didnt want the fish we had in stock anymore. :screwy:

I think somebody should take a piss in your coffee.

what you should do is pay someone to kidnap that guy, and stick his fat ass in lets say a 180 gallon (without water ofcourse) and dont feed him, and tell him its so he doesnt grow much

The really funny part was when he asked for my name. :D

I should have offered to call a manager so he could tell her his problem with me.

not all petsmarts and petcos are all bad. Ive been to a few of them around here where the employees care about fish and recomend fish that are appropriate to the level of fish keeping the customer can acheive. They dont just ask "how big is your tank" (that pisses me off for some reason) they simply mention that certain fish grow extremely fast and can reach massive size. They also do not suggest pacus and other fish that get way too big for the average fish keeper. it all depends on the store, and the person working. Ive been to certain LFS that have a lot less knowledge about fish than the petco/petsmart employees.

Yeah i really dont like Fish stores with employees with limited knowledge, but i spose here in South Australia, there is no real demand for the exotic species, so the worker only knows about the ususal, tetras, discus and guppies.
But there is a store here, like a chain store ...and its a PET store not a fish store, where some of the people know lots about animals in general, and they know about the exotic species of fish too, so its good to go there, i can even get fish there that i cant get anywhere else! like Sailfin plecos are rare in SA!!!

  Good :grinyes: one!!!

My LPS owner sold a woman a pleco and a bowl with a huge bag of flakes.

He's never asked me what size tank I have. Come to think of it though no one has except forum people who ask how big my clown knife tank is :grinno:

Most of the fish store employees I run into don't care...disappointing as I like to talk about my tanks.

In retail, you will always have the uninformed.
Unfortunatly they are the ones who will ultimatly keep the business going.

Maybe try to find a way to get them to tell you about their system and then sell them what they need acordingly.

To me, fish are people too! I would have the same conciousness in adopting.

In my sales experience, the very first rule is "make a friend".
And we wouldn't let any friend make poor choices.

Kudos for protecting the animals that we have dominion over and hopfully that customer will understand where your heart is... ~Z
