i was asking for ppl to GIVE ME A BREAk before i even started this thread.

didnt i take enough measures to just get a response about the set-up?

i thought Chompers was a real cool member and would have understood what i was trying to get at. Bcuz of his past responses that were cool and helpful.

but in the end, he chose to bust my chops.
i wasnt pushing for illegal fishes man. nor the sale or buying of them.

and all i wanted to know, is what was compatible or uncompatible~ would the RAYS not MIND the bichirs? or clown loaches. or whats a good substrate for rays? and no one answered my question about VAMPiRE TETRA. i even approached the thread by saying im just looking for your guys PROFESSIONAL OPiNiONS. not your PERSONAL THOUGHTS ON LEGAL RESTRiCTiONS.

You could probably do 1 atf with 2 VPs but the tank is only 300 gallons so as they get bigger things are going to get tight. Not even mentioning all the other fish you want to keep with them.

You have some cool ideas but you need to be thinking bigger tank or less fish in my opinion.

Wow so how many Proffesional fish keepers do we have on MFK anyhow? Since I'm not a Pro I guess I won't comment. Of course I'm not sure if you wanted a general opinion or answers to the 14 individual questions you asked. Maybe shorter to the point questions would be better.

No reply needed cause this is all just "purely hypothetical".

So (I know, the EVIL so), there's this guy I sorta know who lives in {a place where none of the fish listed in this post are illegal}... He just wants to know if this tank setup could work (at his location), but since he can't type and has no access to the internet, I thought I would pose the question for him ......

i just want to know if the set-up of tank size, filtration, number of fish, and kinds of fish will work together well.



a 300 gallon acrylic bow front tank. 96x30x24 [dimensions]
with a 300 gallon wet/dry filter.
and an EXTRA OVERFiLTRATiON of 400 g. [Fluval FX5]

now for the fishes.

3x New Guinea Datnoids
3x Widebar Pulcher Datnoids
3x iNdonesian Datnoids
3x African Tiger Fishes [is 3 good? or 1 better?]
2x Motoro Sting Rays
2x Delhezi Bichirs
1x Lecharti Aro/African Aro [i cant decide]
3-5x Clown Loaches [too many?]



-and im actually undecided on which kind of algae eater to get.
i was thinking get a common pleco~ and replace it witha smaller one when it gets big, over and over. i've tried to have a FEi FENG~ but it sucked the slime coat off my bichir. so if i can find a good one that doesnt suck on slime... im willing to get a fei feng again. but your feedback on a cool algae eater that doesnt POOP like evil pleco's~ is much appreciated.

-and also, how does a Vampire Tetra sound with this set up? like 2 ATF and 1 VT? of 2 VT and 1 ATF? i was thinking something along those lines. what do you think?

any ideas ona good substrate for this combination of fishes?
i heard some types of gravel hurt the stingrays~ and i dont want that to occur.

whats better?

-or alot?
since i personally think a little is better. like some sand here and there, with a few bare spots. but whats your take on it?

plecs dont do well with rays. a 300gal tank is a lot of space and can house a lot of fish. especially with a nice size sump... do it.

IMO you'll be ok for a little while then your going to be way overstocked when things start getting bigger.........good luck with whatever you do..........

GEEZ!! Everyone just tell him he can do it. Obviously, he's done zero research since he's planning to mix softwater and hardwater species together. Not to mention that no matter the filtration, that many predators (15 that will approach and pass the 2 foot mark) will result in the rays suffering from bad water quality at some point. And, I don't mean from lack of maintenance. I mean all that's needed is one of those preds to throw up a partially digested meal to send that already heavy bioload into havoc.
