Oscars are the only one for me. I get them home and they get so caked with ick they die. Owned dozens of fish and never seem to have a problem with either one.
Your tap water is 50-75 ppm!!! Something is dead in that water. I don't even think it is legal to be above 5 ppm where I live. How do you get it down to a healthy level for the fish?
Im with the guys who say texas cichlids aswell.
My current texas is sick all the time and he constantly picks fights he cant win.
I havent seen him eat for over a month
Texas as well for me and alot of people i know they just keep dropping dead even at the pet stores around here.We are trying to do a study on them with water changes it seems that the good once a week water change is not so good for them, thats when large die offs occur.
and plecos too, only i can keep alive are the commons.
Lost green phantom, snowball, queen arasbasque, leopard frog, gibby, and like 5 bristlenose.
hell ive even killed a common.
i just dont get it, i got the leopard frog eating extremely well and the bristlenose too followed the dietary stickey.
And bam, they dead.
