My overall favorite would have to be Delhezi, obviously. After that, I'd have to say Ansorgii and Endlicheri Congicus are both close behind. Honestly though, all polys are great. Why pick just one?

right now i would have to say a lap. mainly because she's my only lower jaw right now. i always wanted an endli, well still do
.
what i like about them though is their relative simplicity. faint markings, greenish tint allows for good visual of the lines in the head, like the fact that even "fattened up" they don't bulge quiet like some other larger bichirs. actually i may still prefer laps even with endli.
doesn't help that she is just plain BA. not mean but kinda like an old biker, mellow and chill mostly, but by god if she wants something or see her coming you know your probably f'd.

There are plenty of rebels in the area and it's too risky to get them. You don't want to risk your life just getting the fish. Although some people will pay any amounts of money just to get them and for those that are disparate of needing money will do the job. That's why they are very expensive.
So you're saying they aren't actually rare in habitat, just difficult to collect? Fair point, but I was talking about rarity in the hobby rather than in habitat. By your theory the asian arowana is a rare fish, despite being widely available pretty much everywhere (except america, ha ha!!). Maybe I should have said "not widely available" instead of rare...

If everybody are able to afford them, then they be most likely seen in the hobby.As someone who worked in the trade and was privey to all major eu and asian suppliers weekly fish lists up untill december 08. I would say any polyp thats not a Sen, Del, ornate or endi is rare enough in that they rarely show up on any list and when they are limited to a few specimens, even at that the ornates and endi's are still not regularly available . Most expensive bichirs i've seen on any list was a bichir bichir , a green lap and a a green endi. incidentally the most expensive fish i've ever come across was a Koi and a super red Arowana, But thats a different thread!

Well lets just say that endli endli, ornate, sene, delhezi, ppolli and lap are not rare and the rest of the bichirs are rare moke, pbb, retro, congi, beutti, teugelsi, ansorgii, ppalmas and weeksi as many countries don't have them.
This the best thing about bichir keeping, collecting them all!
