What's your Future-dreamtank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my dream tank will be built in about a year hopefully, i have a octagon shaped gazebo next to my 1 acre pond. it measures about 26' across. my plans are to close it in and have the opposite of an octogon tank where you are standing in the center and you are surrounded by one big aquarium that wraps around the whole gazebo and ends on both sides of the door. it will almost be like being inside an octagon aquarium with a large 6'x6'x32' aquarium in the center.

This is a 2500 gallon half round fiberglass pond with a viewing window, over all size is about 12' long X 6' wide at the widest point and 6' deep Viewing window of 9.5' X 5.5' for about $15K :headbang2

I'm going to build a room around the tank and seal it in for moisture control and to keep down the noise level. Above the tank will be hard wood floors with a hatch in the back to get up there from the back of the aquarium. I might put in some book shelves and a chair up there or something to fill the space.

I really like that idea but I would get rid of the outside window or at least make sure that you have blinds that will block out 100% of the light. If you are spending that kind of money do what you can to prevent as much algae as possible.

Thanks for the tip. The sides of the tank are fiberglass so no light will get in there. But your right a 10X6 foot pannel will take some time to clean!

Damn, thanks for the link! That looks like the way to go, if you're able to get the thing into the house.

I will have to take the window out and I think it will fit. I'm going to time it when I replace that window. It's a single pain low efficiency window from the '70's and I was going to upgrade it anyway. I'm still way into the planning stage. I do have the wife's okay so that's about 60% of the effort! (smile)

That's a dream come true!
Amazing idea....

4 180g specimen tanks,a 400g display,and a 300 gal ray tank....too much?

My dream tank would be a 100,000 gallon aquarium. I would make it a small version of the amazon. I would have all kinds of fish that could be found in the amazon. I know that sounds crazy and very expensive, but it is a dream. Just saving some of amazon's wonderful fish would mean a lot to me. Some of the world's largest fish can be found in the amazon. Dream big.
