I just double up the sponges. Been running them that way for 20+ years. Same sponges, last a long time.

I run both with a 110 sponge on bottom, then a 70 sponge on the side next to a bio max with bio max on top. Plus an eheim 2026 filled with bio underneath.

Ac110s are workhorses, I love them

In my 70, I have 2 sponges, then blue bonded filter pad then biomax.

I just went to the dollar tree yesterday and got some super corse pads, so i tweaked them all, lol and i can tell a differance already
