What's your most hated fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My old dovii Rambo. Broke several heaters, filter intakes/discharges, went carpet surfing 4x, broke 2 sets of glass tops, broke 1 set of led lights. I didn't hate him, but I was relieved when a restaurant owner wanted him for a display. He was giant reef tank expensive to keep.

Oh yeah. Bit me 2x reaching across the tank on my tricep. Held on for a moment, shook then flopped back in. I debated eating him at one point haha

I've spent probably over 10 years keeping cichlids and honestly I think they are overrated. seems like you can only ever have one really nice big beautiful one on its own in a tank. at least you know if you want to keep it in correct conditions.
African cichlids? I always think hmm they are cheap, colorful and breed easy. What I end up with is constant fighting and fry always getting eaten. plus every now and then one gets beaten on by the others and gets killed.

Cichlids always seem to draw me back in though, they have that amazing ability to make you want to go back to them lol.

Right now I have 0 enjoyment from my cichlid tank and I`d like to replace them with something else. I`ve kept just about all of the fish from Snakeheads and pacus to tetras and tangynikan cichlids.
I`ve been very busy at college and considered just putting goldfish in there instead, colorful easy to keep and interesting personalities. their simplicity is what makes me consider it. Plus I grew up around ponds with Koi and goldfish.

Honestly I don`t hate any one type of fish, I just get sick of some for a while

Goldfish are great! I had some in my 70 before I sat them outside again and man are they fun

All fish are nice in their own way it's people that cause problems with them.
Trouble making cichlids just need more space.
Line bred colour morphs can often be weak and prone to bacterial infections.
Blood parrots look deformed as do any short body balloon fish.
I would not choose to keep a lot of these fish but I don't hate the fish for it.
It's the people that produce them I'm not so fond of.

+1

I see no issue with line bred colour types, they just need more attentive care.

Some cope better than others.
Livebearers are weak and just look how many health issues ebjd suffer from.
I got 5 guppies that dies within 2 weeks. I think it's just the inbreeding they suffer

I personally think wild caught fish are spectacular, even just looking at my polypterus the difference is big
