Zep, AndreR may be responding to what he thought was your response to his post about the fancy goldfish. Don't worry. It may simply be a little misunderstanding.

Don't give up on the loaches. You may be able to succeed soon enough.:)

red tail shark for 10 gallon, got rid of it a day after when i heard it needed a bigger tank. bought a 30 gallon tank and 3 baby dempseys. they are now 5" and are in a 75 gal.

Snails. The damn things multiplied so much so fast it looked like my tank was moving. Gave me the creeps.
I finally rescued my fish and hot watered the tank to kill everything off.
Never do that again.

Buying a pangasius [sp?] catfish / iridescent shark without knowing of their potentail size :wall:

buying a whiptail cat from a shady store and not QT'ing. brought in parasites and died, taking my gold nugget and a bolivian ram with it.

I discovered a small snapping turtle floating in my creek. It was right before winter and very cold. I picked it up, assuming it was dead, but noticed one leg move a bit. I felt sorry for him and put him in my tank with four very large Silver Dollars.

During the winter months he grew from a quarter-size shell to a soup bowl size shell. He was consuming an ever larger quantity of turtle sticks and shrimp pellets. I was planning on releasing him back into the creek in April, when the water was a bit warmer. About two weeks before that, he learned how to use his quick long neck to capture fish. Unfortunately, he ate all four of my 5+ year old Silver Dollars right in front of my small children. The kids were traumatized and very happy to see "Snappy" go back to the creek that same day.
