Could do it and it may work fine but you never can tell. I've seen some pretty surprising stories here of small aros being killed by unlikely fish.

knifes kill arows all the time but even a 100 gallon tank is too small for an aro we have are silver in 210 and he is almost too big

My african knife is a baby. It is the shyest fish in the tank. I am not the least bit worried about it with the aro.
