When Picking a Datnoid, what should I look for?

Very true. I've also heard if a dat is unstable 24/7 theres no chance of it ever stabilizing?

I remember when I was just getting into the hobby there was a store that had a dat that was about twelve inches in length and it was almost completely black.After me and a buddy seeing this fish a few times he eventually bought it and I don't think it even got any lighter in his tank let alone becoming stable.

I always look for stability while buying a datnoid... But tht could change once you move them to a different enviroment

Sorry for bringing back an old thread but I'd just like to add that I bought an Indo dat thatveas completely black for weeks at my lfs. each time I'd come in and try to calm it and get it stable. Over time it got used to me and i got it's whole face to stable out so I decided to buy em. I brought em home and within an hour, completely stable. Almost always totally stable. Guess it just goes to show no matter what we think they really all are unpredictable.
