When you guys go to pick out a fish out of a tank of multiple, what do you look for? I was just curious, I normally look for the most dominant, or at least the one who seems the happiest.

I ask to see them be fed and I choose the ones who actually eat/swallow the food. This along with the ones who are in good shape.

Not beat up and shy, fed well, swims where it wants(not afraid of the front glass) and strong

Yes but they change their tone as soon as you say then I'm no longer interested. This is in LFS's

Make sure there's no ich. Not much of a quarantine kind of person and never have tried because there was no need. Fins intact, make sure it eats pellets by asking associates to feed. And look for fish that isn't so skiddish. Made a mistake once will not do it again. That's what I look for.

Oh and make sure its active. Don't want a boring (come home from work and see you fish is hiding) fish.
