just curios but are there more then one type of clown knife? mine stayed 9 inches no matter what tank he was in, i got him for 2 bucks after the guy who bought him for his 350 indoor pond and then he never got over 9 inches and he was worried that his channel cat would eat it so he gave it to me, and it never grew. yours is soooo cool i wish mine would of grown.

Thats really good to know. I didn't know they are fed live in the beginning. Well, that would give me a reason to pull out another tank for raising babies. I will have the room for one, if/when I decide to get one. Our newest thought, since we both don't care for swimming pools as much, was to convert a pool into a pond, and upon searching it and reading about it, I am liking that idea more and more. It would be a great size for the 2 I have now, plus the knife...

What are their personalities like? My BGK is very pushy, and curious and loves to explore my hands. My ABK likes to follow my hand in the tank, or stares through at me when I sit and watch him.
When you go to the LFS before you purchase ask what they have been feeding the baby knives.. some have them started on blood worms but most do not... they actually are sensitive types not the big monster types they seem.. but i had mine eating out of my hand for a long time.. he is a quiet elegant fish.. really doesn't bother anyone.. now i feed him his shrimp right into his cave with a long pair of thongs.. i think mine is a little spoiled... good luck..

thanks... great to have a plan... things work out better when you plan

That's awesome, Liz. I had to go somewhat larger for a few of my fish. I use a couple of these terracotta chimney flues. The flathead cat and the pair of pikes have yet to be able to move these 50lb caves. The caves are 24" long and the opening is 18" x 14". Cost was $30 each. The pic is of an unused cave awaiting another monster. The blocking is to hide the mess of the spare parts bone yard.
