I've got pics somewhere yeah. Pristine Aquarium in Alexandria is the place I was talking about. I don't know how far that is from you though.

Amazon_Addict;3340856; said:Your kidding rite. First off he has a 75 not a 55, and your saying that the Pbass would get to big and so your recommending a Pacu which can grow to over a foot in less than a year and get about 3 feet or longer. Plus a oscar has a similar growth rate to a Pbass and get about the same size which also would make it no different. NOOB
svang55;3342691; said:No i'm not kidding. and sorry i misread the 75g but 75 and 55 is only 20g difference so my point still stands. I've never seen a pacu grow a foot in less than a year so unless you've done this yourself don't throw numbers out there that can wrongly inform potential keepers please. maybe the real experts can chime in. I've had pacus in the past for less than a year and they did not grow a foot.

a decently cared for pacu can and WILL reach 16-18" in a year. wanna hear something even scarier?? half that growth comes in about 3-4 months during an extreme growth spurt.
oh.... how do i know? ive raised several of them over the last few years, both for myself and until they were large enough for someone elses pond/tanks and i currently have 2 that are pushing 2' long. the one of them i raised from a baby went from the size of a half dollar to 2' in about 2 years.
the only time a pacu WONT reach that size in that first year, is being kept in HORRID conditions which will result in stunting and severe health problems and a short life. i rescued one from an unfiltered/unheated tank and he was still 8"
anyone who has read about pacu on here would know this, so...now....who's the noob??
svang55;3340841; said:from my experience, get 1 or get 4. if you get them in pairs or even 3, on will establish dominance and pick on the other ones.
if you can't upgrade until a year, that 55 won't hold 4 pbass with your rtc. your RTC is going to hit a growth spurt soon. They get from 6" to 12" fast. If you only have a 55 for a while, i'd say get a couple of oscars and a red belly pacu. the pacu's will act like the pbass so don't get pairs or trios.
just my 2 cents
BigDaddyMagnum;3342761; said:lmao red belly pacu instead of a pbass... because pbass have a growth spurt? cmon man are you serious.. hahaha RBP never stop tehre growth spurt.. you buy them at 1 inch and in a month there 3 feet...(exaggeration)
svang55;3342767; said:i know about their growth spurt, i've had them before but you can always have some with an RTC in a 75gallon until you're ready to upgrade right???
They have about the same growth spurt as an RTC except RTC's get way bigger eventually.
before you all start flaming, keep in mind that he isn't going to keep them for life in a 75g and i posted my thread knowing that isn't his plan either, GOT IT?????

BigDaddyMagnum;3342795; said:lol noone is flaming ....... atleast im not.. all i did was make a generalized statement that red bellies grow amazingly fast.... i didnt attack nor "get at" you so your defense needs to lower... just a tad....
as for the idea yea thats fine if he kept the 2 together... however from my own personal expierience red bellies are just horrible smaller tank applicants even when young.. there skittish ways always result in something broken, other tank mates dieng of heart attack or 10 gallons of water overflow... if you dont have the amazing space they need.. no point in getting 1 even if you will upgrade.... cause if you think that red belly is gunna transport easy once your ready to upgrade.. be prepared for a shower and an indoor pond.. when RBP bug out.... they bug out....
