where do you buy most of your fish .

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Most of my recent purchases (within the last couple of years) have been from local private sellers or vendors here. I have a few fish that I have purchased from local lfs but most do not stock any of the fish that I am interested in and if they do they are way overpriced.

Most of mine are from LFS, but of late that hasn't been true. I ordered fish for the first time a few months ago (mostly because I couldn't find the fish I wanted locally). It went great. I did lose one not long after, but that was due to water quality issues on my part. My other recent purchases have been from a store in my original hometown, which is more than four hours away. I go there when I visit family and they often have something new in stock. Just last week I picked up a juvenile white calvus.

the vendors on here

Of course when buying online you're also looking at $40 or more for shipping. That's the only down side in my opinion. If you do a little research online you can find reliable suppliers.

i buy from my small lfs but i look for i fish i like research then ask them to order it for me there pretty good like that the guy that go me into thhis hobby has been useing it for many years hes pretty much best friends with te owner now and his prices arnt to bad either id say that all u would want from your lfs

all over . . . I have bought on-line, LFS, wherever I need to go to get what I'm after

the main diff is that I usually go online looking for something specific, whereas in the LFS I'm just browsing . . .

I haven't bought from any MFK vendors (yet) . . . but I will look there first next time . . .

We are lucky here, have a LFS that orders from Conkel and Rapps, and we have one of the better US wholesalers in the area that have even gotten centrals from Wessell stock, and lots of WC stuff. So haven't had to do a mail order yet really.
