where do you buy most of your fish .

I go to a small locally owned fish store Oasis Tropical Fish, Redmond, Oregon. The reason I go there is because I can trade fish with them. If I have a fish that "isnt working out" he will trade or give me a FAIR store credit.

If I want a particular fish the guy will order it for me and include it in his store order so I dont have to pay shipping. If the fish he ordered for me shows up DOA he takes care of it with his suppliers, so I dont have to deal with it.

You dont get that kind of service wih the larger chains

i only have one fish =(
and i never even paid for him =D
but he's from rapps, STRAIGHT DOG

I usually buy my fishes from LFS and private breeders. I have never bought on line. My friend bought a fish from a different state and had it shipped over. When he opened the box, the fish looked extremely stressed and later died a week after. After that experience I decided I wouldn't want to buy fish that needs to be shipped. I am only considering the safety of the fish. That's only my opinion, others have had better success.

My fish are almost always bought from local, small merchants who I know care for their fish. Once in a great while, I do go to an LFR. My son recently went to Petsmart and bought me 2 oscars for father's day. They are very healthy and doing well.

We are lucky here, have a LFS that orders from Conkel and Rapps, and we have one of the better US wholesalers in the area that have even gotten centrals from Wessell stock, and lots of WC stuff. So haven't had to do a mail order yet really.
Where can I purchase a True true tiger shoval nose catfish?
