Where do you keep the syrup (maple, etc.). In the fridge or out?

I have to ask this. Were visiting my GF's parents again in a few weeks and it reminded me how they keep the syrup for pancakes in the fridge! Were all adults here and everyone can do as they wish....but its always fun to joke around!

1. If I make a pancake on the stovetop or even perhaps microwave it I don't want some 50F cold syrup on the pancake! Especially covered in it. I typically put butter on, but not a huge amount. Most people put syrup on quite well....2 minutes later my nice and warm pancake is 70F and getting colder. No thank you.

2. I don't want to wait 30 seconds per person to get me some syrup.

3. Unless were talking about real $10 a bottle maple syrup it doesn't need refrigerated. Your average maple syrup is perfectly fine in the pantry.

That's about it. I just need to know I'm not crazy for wanting my warm pancakes to be warm.

We keep it in the refrigerator, but it is the real stuff. It is kind of a pain having to microwave the syrup, but the real stuff can mold if you don't use it up quickly enough.

I don't blame you on the real stuff. That isn't cheap....but some Aunt Jemima's does perfectly fine in the cupboard/pantry.

Don't you microwave it before putting it on your pancakes anyways?

Microwave it?! Ugh. So people understand that it is cold and still keep it in the fridge....then they nuke it! Blasphemy!

I don't want it hot either. Not too hot or too cold is the way I want my syrup.

Even I-Hop just leaves the syrup sitting on the table ready to go. :D

At my house we always have cheap stuff on hand it goes in the fridge, and the good stuff goes in the pantry. I rather my syrup be runny plus i dont like the cheap stuff

I use the "real deal" maple syrup...and unless you use it up relatively quickly (let's say 1-2 months)...mold will grow on the surface of the syrup (especially during higher temp times of the year). If the mold is removed from the surface (which can be difficult with narrow neck bottles)...the rest of the syrup is fine to eat.

I do store my maple syrup in the refrigerator to prevent mold growth...but the downside to this is...because of the sugar concentration in the syrup & the reduced temp in the fridge...there's a good chance (under the correct conditions) that the sugars in the syrup will precipitate (layer of crystalized sugar in the bottom of the container).

Since I store my syrup in the refrigerator & don't like putting cold syrup on my warm pancakes...I do microwave the syrup. The "trick" to this is...getting a mini-syrup container (holds about 2 oz.)...and looks something like this:

About 15 seconds in the microwave...and you're "good to go"!:)
