thank you everyone!:) he just ate a bloodworm frozen cube. seems to be doing just fine, he was on top of the sponge filter and under the ceramic and carbon in the ac110
 
That's so cute. It's like they have no idea that one bad turn and they'd fall out and die.

Sounds like he feels vulnerable in the tank. Have you tried a simple pile of stones for him?

seriously, atleast it jumped into the filter than the floor. for some reason ive had other fish jump into my HOBs . i think it was just being curious, although it is with cichlids/barbs/loaches. there seems to be no aggression, and there are multiple hiding spots for the different types of fish, i have over 100 pounds of rockwork in the tank as well as various pvc pipes. on occasion i even get bredding in the tank.:)
