I finally got my hands on a sponge/floss with a Beneficial bacteria colony from a cycled (And clean) tank. The floss stuff came from an aquatech 5-15 and was made to culture beneficial bacteria. Anyways I have a few options to seed my new (23 days old) tank. I could put it inside the water flow of the 300 GPH HOB filter next to the filter bags. Or I could put it in the gravel ( I have an undergravel filter) Or I suppose I could put it next to the intake of my eheim canister filter.

Any ideas ?
Also I dont really plan on using the HOB for anything but mechanical filtration if I stick the sponge there will it spread to my other filters ? Or should I put it in the gravel because I have an UGF which obviously is a Beneficial bacteria bed

I would put it in the Hob prob easier to take out later once your tank is cycled thats where I always add mine. :)

Nice! Its in there now I chose it because it had alot of air and water agitation going on behind the filter cartridges . I would like to focus my bio load on my eheim 2215 but I cant for the life of me bring myself to open it only a month after I started the product.

I'm interested in knowing too because I just got some bio rings from the LFS (not very safe I know but I'm keeping a mantis so hopefully they don't have invert diseases in them.

Still curious if maybe I should put it in the gravel below my eheims intake. As I want a good colony in my eheim. The HOB is intended solely for mechanical (Its a topfin 60 300 GPH)

BB spread out evenly across the entire surfaces of the aquarium.. Give it time and it will be everywhere!

Plenty of fishies in there its cycled now :)

No this is a freshwater tank. Why?
