Another drug I've just started working with is called lufenuron (sold by the name "Program" in the pet trade). It's worked great on copepods that panacur, prazi and formalin haven't worked on with a few species of ray I'm currently working with.

Is this for external parasites only?

Yes, external. It's a chiton prohibiter. It works between the various adult stages of the life cycle. When they molt and grow, they cannot produce the hard outter layer, and the result is death for the parasite.

For whatever it's worth, I use panacur all most of my wild caught rays (fresh and salt). I've had a lot of success with it clearing out a lot of internal parasites.

Do you inject the rays with Panacur? I bought some insulin needles and was thinking that it may be a viable way to administer the medicine directly. That way I can make sure that the right amount goes into each ray and not OD them per their weight.

No, it goes into food. Either injected into worms (for animals that are eating), or tube / force fed to animals that aren't eating.

how do you force feed the rays?
prazi is not working so well for me know.if the ray taste test every worm now and if i inject she knows and wont eat it.I can no longer get her to eat prazi.what about jungle internal parasite powder.

i looked under microscope and ray poop all looks like little worms the whole mass. so its absolutly inpossible to tell unless i seen millions of parasites in one bit of poop.are these parasites ever active outside the host like inside the tank swimming around visible to the naked eye.

I'm thinking maybe alot of these issues your having may be stress related. Judging by all your posts you've doing been alot in a short time and not gving your rays a stable enough envioment for long enough time. Maybe just go back to keeping your water pristine, bump the temp to 86 for awhile and keep the tank fully covered or mostly covered. Cut back on your feedings and don't do anything new for awhile. Stability will go a long way.

true and valuble statement. This ray is the healthest ray you will ever see and was not part of what i imported and only shares the tank with two others smaller rays.the water is pristine

just all of the sudden after i left for christmas eve in red deer i came back to calgary a day later and she wouldnt eat.i have never had issues with her ever just now i am overreacting because i spent $2000 on her

Not tryng to hijack but Matt please help us!!! LOL I have a ray with issues as well. Been with me well over a year. Still eating but is a skeleton. Been treating with Prazi as a bath and injected into worms for well over a month. Been through 3 bottles. NOT phasing whatever is going on with it. Been circling the drain for over a month. The other ray in the tank still eats like a pig and is gaining weight fast (few month old pup) I'm really at a loss. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated!!!
