Where's my car members? I need some help.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Dropped the car off and my mechanic gave me a couple possible causes.

1. Air in the lines
2. Frozen caliper
3. Wide ope shutter valve in the abs system.

I'm hoping its not 3 because it will be expensive and I probly won't have it fixed then

Anyone ever heard of this valve? I was under the impression that each brake line had a valve so I'm a little confused. The guy also called it a T valve. I have a feeling I'm being played with

I've never heard of the valve but I've never worked on abs components. Google it to see prices and function to see if what he is saying makes sense

Been doing that. From what I've gathered ur abs system is a module, sensors, and 4 valves in each line. Not finding what he's talking about. He said that its common and the ABS light doesn't always come on. I find this to be bs now that I've looked over stuff. I've never heard of replacing the whole system for one part not working which my father and father inlaw have never heard of before either.

I'd take it to a second shop to have it looked at before having him touch it anymore. I've never had to deal with ABS so I don't know how much it costs to fix or how difficult it is, but I don't see why you'd have to replace the entire system and not just the faulty part.

I would think you just need to flush and bleed the system. It's old enough that you probably want to get new fluid in there anyway. Are all the brakes applying? You can tell pretty easily if a caliper is stuck. If you want an even firmer pedal, I'd look into braided SS lines from like ZZP or somewhere. I have SS lines and F-body front brakes on my W. If you want some more help with this issue or with your GP in general, you should join the w-body forum. I've been a member on there for a number of years (same s/n) and currently have a 98 Regal. Send me a PM if you do decide to join up. Sounds like you need to get that car out of there.

Well he has it so I'm gonna have him bleed the system and inspect it and that's it. It will be the last time he touches my car. Can't trust anyone these days

Well, good luck. Hopefully that's all it is. If you were in PA or CO I could point you to a good shop, but you're in Albany, so nevermind, lol.

I'm thinking it just needs a flush because the fluid when replacing the master cylinder was dark dark green. I have no ABS light on or check engine light which are indicators of a faulty ABS obviously. It has to be something simple I'm looking over. Once I have him do the inspection and flush the brakes the car is outta there for good and I'm finding a new garage to go to
