I'm somewhat new to the hobby so I need to hear from everyone in the US. Apparently the Jar is a mean SOB, the silver seems good, but appears to grow much bigger than the others. I've yet to see a black at my lfs. So which one do most people prefer in the US???

I prefer the silvers, and blacks. The blacks are nice, but they cost too much IMO. The silvers do get big, but can turn much easier than their Asian and Australian counterparts.

i personally am a fan of jardini's, shorter than silvers, but generally a more stocky fish, and topped of with a aggresive tempermeant.

since i can get a black for around 75$ at my lfs, thats what i prefer. imo if they were captive bred theyd easly be the most ideal aro, dont get as big as the silvers, not as mean as the jars and are the most flexible.

I've got a 6" jar which I really like, but from everything I'm reading it sounds like he is going to wake up one day and tear everyone else in the tank apart. I really like my CK and Datnoid. Maybe I'll switch to a Silver. Decisions, decisions.........

I prefer the blood red aro

:naughty:

i prefer the silver aro out of all, i like the large size as an adult that every other aro does not get. and my new favorite, the leichardti aro

I like my silver, will someday have a black. I also would like to have a Jardini, or a Leichardti. Seems most aro keepers in the U.S. have Silvers, followed by Jardinis in a distant second.

Asians: Because they are illegal. For legal arows: THE BLACK ALL THE WAY:headbang2 :headbang2 :headbang2 :headbang2
