Im not going to vote but i will tell you about my xp with both Jar and Silver/black
Jardini are nice and i found they dont get as big as the silver/black so for a 220g it would be best fitted BUT imo the jardini are VERY aggressive toward any tankmate and even more aggressive with New tankmate i found that my jardini was ALMOST tolerant of tankmates that where introduced to him when he was younger. as he got older and bigger it was nearly impossible to introduce any new tankmate and that really sucks because as year went by i had to get other tanks in order to have new fishes.
I had to sell my Jardini because he used to chase my FRT 24/7 causing massive water splash and very annoying noise plus it made my FRT pretty upset and stressed. :( ( FTR was 1.2 kg and fighting back but the jardini did not care )

As far as silver/black i found that they get huge fast and are a LOT more passive to tankmate new or old as long as they are big enough not to be mistaken for a snack.

So in the end you will have to choose between a possibility of no tankmate ( terrorized tankmates ) or a fish that might feel a bit tight in is tank in a few years

Whatever arowana you choose you will have LOTS of FUN watching them grow.

Cheers.

ty wilkinson, i appreciate hearing your personal experience. what about bichirs, ive kept them in the past and they seem indestructable. irwini catfish are so armoured and motionless one of them might be ok too? man, this is a tough decision

you guys aren't making this any easier lol. i didn't think i would get votes for silvers since they get so big. thanks everyone for not flaming me on my tank size, i'm just a little fish in a big pond around here

you dont like leichardti aros? jw..i like jars too but personal experience they are to mean, ive had two in the past. i voted jar because i like the body style, "closest to asian aro" lol

Jar without tankmates would be best suited.

Well i have no xp with bichir but one thing i forgot to mention is that jardini seems to be very territorial to tankmate that swim in the upper and middle section of the tank . not so much aggressivity toward the bottom dweller.
My FRT went to the surface to get air and to check for food so i guess that did not help .
good luck

maybe bichirs would be ok then, it would be an expensive lesson to lose one though
