I have a marineland and it is produces a noticeable humming sound...
My tetratec though, is so quiet that i have to put my ear next to it to hear it.

i had an eheim pro 3 2075, and the hum from that could be heard across the room.... even in the cabinet.

The moaning i got about it makes noise a priority!!!

'luckily' the 2075 is the only eheim filter i've ever had thats broken.

At the minute my tank is being filters by two large internals stuffed with media from the eheim.

My personal experience with the FX5 needed me to put a couple of screws into the bottom of the tank stand to stiffen/reduce any space between the plywood and the supporting stand frame.

Result was whisper quiet...

Owning Pro II's, Classic's, and the FX5, the Classic makes the least noise.

any of the ehiem pros all day long

the eheim classic is a good filter but very dated the pros are simple to clean out and get started

if the FX5 is such a great filter why do many people mod them and why have fluval got a new replacement model coming out soon if its that great

the pro3 is a great filter and eheim will run with that design for years to come

My Fx5 only has a very slight hum that you can hear a few feet away but its very very faint.

Your crap is getting old dude. STFU since this is not a comparison between how great filters are.

BTW, the Fluval G is NOT in anyway shape or form a "replacement" for the Fx5. NFW. Fx5 is better than the G.

Start a new thread about how great Eheim filters are compared to the Fx5. Don't cloud up this thread with your BS

why start a thread to compair eheim to fluval now that would be old hat

you can swear as much as you like

the FX5 hums and eats elec

their is a quote in another thread where you say the FX5 is crap make up your mind good or bad

with the new G filter having a lower flow rate fluval have just proven flow is not everything

you carry on modding your pile of junk

the experts at fluval have made up their mind the FX5 has run out of steam so its time for a new angle with the G

good point.... fluval could've put a ton of flow in the G had they wanted... it's not like they don;t know how to make powerful pumps...

they must've decided that, on balance, it was right for their system.

anyway, i agree, the FX5 lacks any sort of finesse... all grunt and no glory.

Ok well i have a fx5 and a xp4 in my bedroom both filtering my 220, and the only thing i hear is the airpump for the airstones, and the stand is open with only a sheet covering the front so i stick with either of those 2.
