Which cichlids would go well with an Oscar...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I also really like Hypselera temporalis.
I love their look, and are common in the fish stores here.

It's really hard, but I have to set up and cycle first, so I am in no hurry

So , would an Oscar, a temporalis and a redhead be ok?

i have my jag and oscar in the same tank get along just fine
but its all luck USUALLY jag will not take nice to the oscar in most cases
for me it was my first Green Terror that didnt get along with the oscar
and had to rehome: my second GReen Terror gets along fine with him
the first GT was half the size of the oscar and would beat the crap out of it
so to some it up
all fish have personality and one may be good other may be bad

Does anyone know?
Or would it be overstocked?

What about a blood parrot, they have the same temperment.

Thanks for the suggestion.
But I really dislike them.
I also would like something bigger.

If 1 oscar, 1chocolate, and a redhead isn't overstocking the tank, I have made up my mind.

I'd go with a female dempsey. i have seen oscars and dempseys together tons of times.

Wow. Good choices. I think that would be the upper limit with good filtration, but doable. And it will be stunning.

Thanks, I think so too. :)
So do you think I need like 1500gallon/hour?

Sounds like plenty, especially with a powerhead to stir things up a bit. You thinking sump?
