Which cichlids would go well with an Oscar...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I haven't thought about it.
I would like to have automatic water in/output.
Python, I think it is called.

Would you recommend a sump?

Python is a cleaning device to hok up to a faucet to suck water out or put it in. It is not an auto water level device.

I woudl say either sump or multiple canisters. I run an XP4 and am adding a FX5 to my 125 Cichlid tank. Oscars are mighty messy fish....

Sorry, I am trying to get used to the english terms
*blush*
I will have to study up some more on sumps.

Thank you guys for all the help.
I really appreciate it.

Jack Dempseys def are good tank mates. I also have convict cichlids with my O and jds. I have seen ppl with firemouths, GTs and jags in the same tank so its touch and go. gl

No worries. I wish some of our own would speak and write English as well as our foreign counterparts.

I will note that with Oscars and cichlids to be prepared for water changes and tank maintenance. I have 2 oscars and a green terror and boy do they ever make a mess that needs to be vaced out constantly.

I find sand bottom is cool to make cleaning easier but man is it a PITA in a way as well since you can see all the poop in the tank...

I am prepared for frequent water changes and cleaning.

Sand is definitely what I am what I will be going for.
I have cheap gravel in my 30 gallon, it doesn't look good at all.
However, I care a lot more about the fish.

My Oscar is on barebottom and it's great, but sand would be about the same effect. Been thinking of adding it, actually. The idea of replacing my impellers often is stopping me.
