The Costa Rican Variant is is more of a blue color in the face body and fins. Also there bodies are more of a cream that changes to a reddish tint depending on there mood. The Nics are more turquoise in the face body and fins, there body is more of a maroon color. The only real difference is the coloring. Just look through the thread and look at the Costa Rican variant and the Nicaraguan variant to get a good idea.
The Dovii you posted looks like it's colors are washed out, maybe the color of the sand, also it is still young. There color really starts coming on around the 4-5" mark and only gets better. In the pics it looks like the fins are more of the blue which would mean the CR. If you ask me that is a female even though I do see a small amount of spotting on the upper half of the body, not enough to signal a male. At 4" the spotting should be a little more pronounced.
