also go ebay without a doubt ;)
Very nice pics. I think I'm just going to get the cam. at Walmart or Sears so I won't have to deal w/ shipping, etc.

I'm a nikon guy for sure. But, the best way to feel what you like is to hold the cameras your self.

Ask your self these questions:

What do I want my camera to do for me?
What can I afford?
What kind of pictures am I aiming for?
Do I want a all around camera or a limited one?

But from what I know, I would go for a D60, D40, D5000.
Unfortunately all of those mentioned are out of my price range (even the $499 for the D3000 is a stretch for me).

Look at Adorama's refurbished cameras. There is a lot of D60's, D40's, D80's, and some D200's I have seen that were under $500.

brooooo im just telling you, youll save a ton of money going through ebay on just about any camera related purchase you can make

Wow, they do have some good deals, the d40x is only $330. So the d40x would be better than the d3000? Oh, and what lense should I get for it if I do get the d40x (preferrably under $200 so I can keep the whole thing around $500)?

The D3000 replaced the D40. Don't know to much of the "x" factor of the D40.
As for the lens, I really like the 50mm f/1.8 and the 35mm f/1.8 lenses. Really clear and sharp lenses.

Both Canon and Nikon are good companies that make great products. I'm going to suggest a Nikon because, within the past few months, I purchased the D5000. If you can afford it, spend the extra cash and purchase a D5000.

Oh, well maybe I'll just get the d3000 then, b/c it's a little cheaper anyway... btw, thanks a lot for all the help everyone.
