Which filters are better? Aquaclear or...

If I were you I would keep the Marineland 400 and just replace the tetra with one of the AC 70's, but definitely keep the Marineland and just stuff it with the cut to fit filter pads that you can by and cut to whatever size you want. You can never go wrong with overfiltering! Just buying one big filter will cut down on maintenance, but what if that filter goes down? Having the additional filtration will help out in such situations and if you ever need to start an additional tank you can just move a filter over to it and don't have to worry about cycling a new tank!

I would go with the aqua clear filters. I have a ac70 on my 30gal and the water is perfectly clear

I would say get a bigger aquaclear, maybe the 110, it is easy to clean, and i find it much better than the emperor filters, but that's just my preference, i had a 150 gallon african cichlid setup running off 3 aquaclear 110's and it was always a clean tank, go to pjm3aquariums@zoomshare.com to view the setup.....good luck !!!

Keep what you have, throw in a sponge filter and call it a day. They don't look to great but they get the job done.

i vote option 2, aquaclears are real energy efficient and I have an aquaclear50 now called the 20 running continuiously for atleast 15 years.

i traded a uv on sunday to a guy for two 110 from a reef tank they were so loaded in barnacles they hardly turned and after a good cleaning they look almost like new and run fantastic.

I also have never bought new media just double sponges cleaned out every so often.

hey guys anybody stop and look at his posts?.. he's got a chance to pick up 2 ac70's for $20 total... partner get on the bus or in your car and GO GET THEM....:)
