Which fish are hardy for a noob?

Hey People,

For a noob, someone just done their first cycle etc.... Which fish would you recommend as being 'hardy'...???

I know those little guppies are pretty much indestructible... Can you please suggest some other fish that are hard as nails and not too pricey.

I'll only be introducing 3-4 fish, but would like them not to all be guppies!

Let me know your thoughts.

Ok guys I just got back from the pet store to see your responses...

The lad at the shop did a water test for me and said my water was progressing well...
He said I was ready for four fish and recommended four Pineapple Swords, Three females and one male! (I know what I want to be reincarnated as....lol)

So yeah got them home now and there in and settled... I'm really happy here's a pic to show you guys what I've been up to...

Ps. the guy in the shop asked me how big my tank was etc I told him a small 18". He goes what you looking to keep in there, I go some tetra's, some corys and a ermmmmmmmmm a snakehead.... you should have sen his face lol

As for cichlids, they don't come hardier than Archocentrus Centrarchus.

Very nice little tank you've got set up there! Male looks very colorful. Nice aquascaping too.
