Which fish do you DREAD netting out? Which ones do you not mind?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I know I'm going to hate netting out my Koi to put back in the pond (after I rebuild it). Those guys are strong and will be thrashing around.

RB Piranha's. They shredded my nets. How do you move them. I ended up moving them with a collander, that wasn't easy.

Remove tops and lower 2.5 or 5 gal bucket into tank-Use lid to "swoosh"/"Push" the piranha into bucket-Once in-Simply lift out of tank-

Four-lined pimelodus, because of their spines. I got one stuck in the net when I brought them home. It made a full recovery and the piece of net eventually came off. I now use a small plastic carmal corn bucket with holes poked into the bottom. It is much harder to catch one with this.

My biggest senegal also can be difficult. He really fights and splashes.

My smaller fish aren't that bad

My big niger cat was a huge pain. He thrashed my net and threw water over 15' and hit the walls. I'm glad I had a plastic sheet down for that one. And hope to only have to do that one more time EVER.

Ditto, but with a pacu.
It didn't help the tank I was netting him out of had all the electrical next to it, and 1/4'' lass with a 15'' pacu..
Also, anything in the SW tank. Impossible to catch without tearing out ALL the rockwork.

My lima was the worst he got all tangled in the net. I had to lay him on a table and cut the net from around his fins. He was swimming around for weeks with little pieces of net stuck to his fins.

I hate trying to get my 5" Datnoid! Just so fast....I don't really mind getting my 18" Jar nor any of the other arowanas, but this guy......makes...me....MAD!
