I'm thinking possibly red bellied piranhas. Arowana probably silver. Possibly rays. Any other suggestions? Thoughts? What size tank for these fish ideas? I know te RBPs will be by themselves.

So can I do any kind of rays in a 120 gallon for life? If so what's the hardiest? Best for a beginner?

No, you cannot house any ray in that tank for life. The smallest readily available according to this MFK species profile is 30" disc diameter. Also, compared to other fish they are very delicate and need pristine water conditions. So hardiest should be relative to rays alone. I don't know your experience or your dedication in fish keeping but I advise to think twice and get a larger tank for rays if ever you want to go.

For your tank, first, what do you intend to keep? Without this information, it will be very difficult to suggest what you should choose. I don't really find either of those dimensions appealing. Wider one is too short while longer one is too narrow. I am for the wider tanks coz they give you more options in what to keep but that 4' tank is just too short.

I would do the 6ft for a cichlid community, if you do 1 or 2 15+ inch fish I would do the 4 ft tank. I would do a 72x24x24 180 gallon if you can't decide.

I had always preferred the longer 125 until I picked up a free 120 last week, and I must say its a really cool tank. The extra depth opens up alot of options, not sure what im doing in mine yet. And in my opinion, the 120 looks more impressive than my 135 once you get close and start looking, but from a distance the longer length makes for a better display tank.

Hold up! Where did you find a 2x4 120 in VA? I've been looking for one for a while now? I've got a couple 6x1.5x2 120 long tanks in my area, but no 2x4 120's!

Here's on in MD: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/for/3362939360.html

Another on in MD: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/hsh/3402269016.html

This on is 5 minutes from my house: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/for/3414314802.html (but debatably over-priced)

This guy is close to me as well: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/hsh/3411264267.html

I saw this one in the Richmond area, and it's exactly what I'm looking for: http://richmond.craigslist.org/for/3385293628.html
Do you know this area?

Wow thanks. Ya the one in Richmond isn't far from my house maybe 10-15min. Ya I think I like the 6ft 125 a little better with the black stand like the second one you posted. The 150 is nice I think it may be to big for me (going on second floor). The one close to you is nice but I agree on it being over priced.
