which is the better tank size for a silver aro?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
funny, i didnt see a silver aro in any of the links you posted. were you trying to prove a point? cause if you were, it didnt happen as your comparing apples to oranges.

but as mopar said, get the 240 since your mind was already made up before you posted this thread.

lol, no guts what so ever. do you even know how big some of the fish in those pix will get? some just as big and some even bigger than a silver aro. but, i guess ignorance is bliss....

Okay, okay, everybody take a :chillpill:.

Everybody tends to get a bit worked up when they think a fish is being mistreated. If you want to avoid harsh criticism, give everybody all the information they need before asking a question that's so narrow in scope. It sounds like you have plenty of tank space and good plans for a tank of appropriate proportions for your aros. Just let everybody know all of your info up front and everybody will be cool. ;)

I assume, based on the way talk about your spare 240g, that you still have to set it up and cycle it? I would get that going right away, and get two of your aros in there once it's ready. Sounds like the 225g has more room for the aros to turn, but the 240g will give the aros a better footprint. It's a wash really, 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. Get your 8 x 4 x 4 going and you'll have some happy aros. No worries man.

"your kidding, right?"

lol, no, i'm not kidding. they are all over 24in, one is over 30in. they are in great shape, don't fight ever and the water they are in is changed on a regular basis such that ammonia and nitrate readings are almost unmeasurable. please dont assume because i don't have 4500+ posts that i don't know how to keep fish or know about the limitations of a particular breed. and mine are kept by themselves not with a bunch of cichlids....

Sorry for the assumption, but I can only go off the info given. First you ask a noob type question as to what tank size would be best, which leads anyone reading that your do not have either of these tanks and do not know the answer.

You then put forth that you have three 24" silvers. But still you don't give a tank size, so now one can only imagine what size tank they are in. I do know how crowded two aros in a 6x2x2 foot tank can be. So for me three is unimaginable.

Also would you please show me were I critized you? I only gave my opinion as to the question you asked.

Now for some critizism, why not come forth will all the info up front? Seems to me that you know that the sitsuation you have your aros in is wrong. You felt the need to hide it? You are posting in hopes of finding some info leaning towards your setup as being right.

i should be fixed to say = ignorance is wanting to keep 3 silver aros in a 240g tank. have a nice day

" First you ask a noob type question as to what tank size would be best, which leads anyone reading that your do not have either of these tanks and do not know the answer"

i've got both, they are in the 225gl now.

" But still you don't give a tank size, so now one can only imagine what size tank they are in. "

so instead of imagining why don't you just be an adult and ask. i didn't know i needed to write out a dissertation on my tank setups to ask a simple question...

"Now for some critizism, why not come forth will all the info up front? "

because i don't have the time to write out the full details on every tank i own, nor should i have to when asking a simple question.

"You felt the need to hide it?"

what the hell am i hiding? everytime someone has asked me a question in a respectful tone i've answered. when some of the hypocrites on this thread made nothing but rude statements i responded in kind.

"You are posting in hopes of finding some info leaning towards your setup as being right."

i know neither is right for the long term, thats why i'm building the 8X4X4 now and will have it done in a few months. what i wanted to know was which would be the best setup for now...

"i should be fixed to say = "

either your spelling or grammar needs some work...

But you had time for a long winded tirade...

I like how you just ignored the positive input I had for you. It seems as though you would rather pick a fight. There are probably better forums out there for that kind of mentality. I suggest you go find one of them.

"But you had time for a long winded tirade..."

only after these guys decided to keep going after your initial post. after you made your post i was done. it was well thought out and respectful and i appreciated it.

only if the other hypocrites on this thread leave as well...lol everyone needs to lighten up a bit...

 good luck with your aros.
