I say when I had a Jaguar,he was one tough cichlid. He whooped on my green terror and barely beat the jack dempsey for territory. Then he went after my Tiger Oscar and well the outcome for the Jaguar wasn't too successful of taking over the tank completely,my Tiger O took on the Jaguar like nothing. So I don't get how people say Oscars are pansies, just cause people had bad luck with them of not being aggressive, doesn't mean all of them are like that. For my small cichlds in the tank,my OB peacock and black convict are aggressive as hell towards my other smaller cichlids.

Convict pair with babies are the meaniest I've seen. Use to be a red devil, until I saw the remaining part of the female convict after I guess the female ate some of the fry. Oscars I've had, many, have been rather non aggressive.

My female convict is nuts, both smaller jack dempseys were fighting yesterday, then she came right in fighting the both of them.I think I rather not take the chance of having a male black convict to have for mating lol.

I have a tank with texas, devil/texas hybrids and a convict. The convict is only a quarter the size of the two biggest and they never mess with him or his small principality :)

I don't have an exceptional amount of experience, but our "midas" and our chocolate cichlid are both mean-tempered, angry, vicious, and very very territorial.

Our "midas" has killed/eaten/battered several fish so that "he" now has his very own tank (with nothing but sand and driftwood as he destroys anything else). No matter how well we thought we planned his tankmates, the "midas" would hunt them down til they were literally too exhausted to swim away and then eat or abuse them til the threat was eliminated - "he" is completely ruthless and unstoppable, cold-blooded in more ways than one. After seeing him draw blood on more than one occasion I decided to leave water changes to the hubby....
Our chocolate cichlid is more moody and territorial, more of a bully. "He" mostly leaves the striped raphy alone but ate all "his" dither fish and will attack anything within a foot of "his" tank, whether it be hand, face, or cat....and the way he kills his live food is brutal, stuns it with a quick charge then rips it up. I had heard that chocolate cichlids were supposed to be relatively mild-tempered and even shy cichlids, HMPH!

I would have to say convicts, my black convict that I have isnt even 2" and he chases my 2 jack dempseys that are larger than him if they go near him, its funny, he thinks he's king of the tank, along with my pink convict who's a little over 2" he's the biggest in my tank minus my eel, they team up and run others off lol
