JAG!
Here's mine for inspiration

Contrary to what someone said, I really don't think Jags are generally as agressive as a mature midas/rd. Very very close in agression, but not as much as an angry RD/Midas. Imo, RD/Midas are much more active and have "just a lil more out in them" in terms of agression then most Jags do. I'm not showing any favoritism here either because I love both species. After all, they live together in the same lake, do they not?

At the same time tho, there are always exceptions to the rule. I saw this one 14 inch jag at an LFS alone in a 90 that seemed just as much of a pizzed off mofo then any rd/midas I've ever kept! :WHOA: In the end, agression is determined by the individual personality of each fish. As far as looks go, thats a matter of preferernce really. I love em both, so it would be a very hard decision. Which is why I would base it on the personality of each fish as opposed to what they look like. But hey, that's just me.

Im surprised no one has mentioned the fact that the jag has not matured yet. At 4-5 inches he is hardly a third of the size he will become. I know you don't want a fight, but IMO a full grown jag would destroy a full grown devil. If you want to bring out the aggression in any fish, give them a mate, let them spawn, and when the fry come, they will attack anything within reach, including your hand.

I vote Jag. (more colorful too)

i had a breeding pair of jags, put in a rd and he kill the jag male, the gag was not fully grown but both fish was a goog 9 - 10inches

ID GO WITH THE JAG, a 1 fish per tank 4 my was a pain in the ass

Keep the RD... Only the strong survive.. Keep to the CODE

Well I have decided to keep the jag. He is runnning some convicts around but still skiddish when it comes to me. Of course he has only been in the tank for a couple days.

I bought 2 Jags and put them in with a Pearl Gourami that was twice their size (temporary tank for the Jags). The Gourami actually beat the crap out of the both of them. One practically lost a tail. Eventually after a week. The Jags got bolder and the tailess one ended up killing the other Jag and the Gourami. It grew back his tail and was pretty aggressive. I'd go with the Jag. It'll probably get bolder as the days go by.
