I have owned and used dozens of outboards (fishing guide). I put honda, the masters of the 4 stroke. Yammies are good and new generation Evinrudes have interesting tech. Still have a early 80's johnson 8 h that makes a lot of noise, stinks like Detroit and rattles like crazy but starts all the time (usually by the third pull).


Mercs are great...... anchors.

well force is just about the most crappy motor you can buy the new evinrude e-tech is great the suzukis new 4 stroke are great. Some of the 4 stroke yamahas have a bunch of problems but the 2 stroke motors are top notch.. we just sold a merc 225 saltwater series efi no proclems but spark plugs are 22$ each. and of course you cant go wrong with the amazing honda outboards.

Had to go w/Evinrude. When i was 5 years old, my dad picked up a 1978 evinrude 75horse moter along with a starcraft tri-hull. when i was 20 my dad gave me the boat and motor. Neither he nor i have ever had any problems with it. I've had it 4 years now and the boat rides like **** but the motor is extremely reliable and runs great.
