reallyi thought that puffers were pretty slow and i might keep them with fast fish but would thay just get picked off at night

Puffers aren't that slow at all. They're not designed to move fast in a straight line, but they can easily catch and attack barbs etc.

:WTF: Okay, have any of you people that are giving advice actually ever OWNED a Modestus? I can tell you for a fact that three Bronze/Avacodo puffers will NOT fit in a 30G tank. :banhim: Neither will two. They are very aggressive toward conspecifics, and cannot be kept with other puffers. :shakehead I have one in my 100G, and he's a little bigger than 4 inches. One of the correct things I read on this thread was that their teeth grow quickly (they do). :bs:Please, people, do your homework, or at least don't give advice about a fish that you don't know that much about. Sorry if I offended anybody, but it is just plain irresponsible to suggest something that can cause problems. :nilly:

I sucessfully kept my modestus with larger cichlids too. Groovydude, you know you're dredging up some pretty old threads?

good to know i've been thinking about puffers more and more and i think i'll get one of these if i get one (can't decide between a puffer or a rainbow wolf fish but leaning twords puffer because of the activety level of wolfs)

so then there not to aggressive with other fish just each other ? or is that just in large tanks

My modestus also killed several other fish when I put him in with them. Most FW puffers are very basa$$es. Good luck finding one too.
