Which SHELL!?!?!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I put my shells by an ant hill, they clean those smelly suckers out in no time flat! plus I don't bleach them, once the ants clean them, I soak them in a 5 gallon bucket of fresh water for a week or so and make sure no smells accumulate before placing them in my tank. The ants do the hard work!

I use escasgot shells from a "kit" at Publix. The shells come with a can of snails. $10 for around 18 shells.

Just bought 24 escargot shells, can't wait to get them. My guppy fry are still taking up the gonna be shell dweller tank. Once they get out, the sand will go in and the shells, plus I will get the pH to the right readings. Your opinions on how to raise pH?

What is your current pH level? You may not have to raise it chemically.

Ok, just tested my pH. I have the test kit that only goes to 7.6 and my tank water was at 7.6, may be higher though.

You should be OK with the 7.6 pH unless the fish you are getting are used to a higher pH.

Ok thanks, the guppies are getting close to big enough to go in community tank then it's time to put sand and shells in.......THEN, Shellies....Most likely getting multies now because the LFS said he would get them for me once they're on his list. I don't know what "the list" means.

How big do the guppies need to be to go in the 37 community tank? I have platys, mollies, corys mostly in there.
