Which SHELL!?!?!

I'm most likely getting Occies, Anna. Shellies, he e-mailed me back and he said they are Yellow Zambian. Help any?

I've never heard of "yellow zambian", but if you look at the profiles on cichlid-forum, there is blue zambian ( the one's I have) and ornatipinni's zambian, which they are also calling yellowfin occelatus, which look like blues, but have yellow fins, pretty cool IMO.

But he only has 2 of them and the chances of 1male/1female are slim. So I asked him if Occies are common on the list. See what he says

no LFS in these parts has any shell dwellers at all so you guys are lucky to have any choices at all. I like the Whale eye shells myself.

Not sure where in Illinois you are but check out the Greater Chicago Cichlid Association (www.gcca.net). I'm sure that there are members from whom you could get any number of shellies or shells.

I've bred a variety of shellies without shells. Rubble from 1/2" PVC pipe works great...and a lot easier to catch them out of than actual shells.
