I recently got a 6" motoro female from Vamptrev on Sunday (she's gorgeous by the way!). She was in great shape when she arrived, and was eating nightcrawlers with Trev.

She went into my 125g predator tank, which has a pike cichlid, 5 gar, an indo datnoid, a red snook, a channel cat, a pearsii, 2 climbing perch, and 3 crayfish. Most of the fish are still fairly small, and the channel cat and 3 of the gar are going out into my pond once its finished.

The pike appears to have been picking on the stingray the first 2 days (she's the most dominant/aggressive fish in the tank), since she had a few bite marks around her disc, and she doesn't explore the tank at all. As far as I can tell, she stays in the same corner of the tank all day and night.

She also hasn't been eating much, only a small piece or two of cut up earthworm, before the other fish discover it and eat it. She isn't showing a whole lot of interest just yet, which I'm attributing to the possible bullying by the pike.

My main question is, should I move her over to my south american community tank? It's also 125g., its planted, and has angelfish, tetras, a couple geo's, some rams, cories, a black ghost knife, and a dragon goby. I think she's less likely to get picked on in this tank, as well as have a better chance of getting her earthworms before the others eat them.

Should I move her over to the other tank? Or should I wait it out till the end of the week and see if she gets her appetite back? She's not skinny or anything, I just haven't seen her eat very much, and she looks kind of scared to venture out of her corner.

(And yes, I know she is going to way outgrow this tank. I am planning to build a large footprint tank with just her in mind, hopefully next summer or fall. She's got plenty of time in the 125g tank before then.)

If I were u I would deff move her out of that tank as soon as possible,If she is staying in 1 spot all the time then that means she is stressed out, and not eating is a tall tail sign for sure,I personally bought a female from Trev about 2 weeks ago and she is doing great,ALWAYS exploring the tank and never ever passes up on any food even if I just feed her 2 worms she will still take a worm 10 minutes later. So if I were u YES I would move her out right now as we speak and keep the lights off in the other tank for a while.

1 other thing to note is the angelfish could pick at her also so I would keep a close eye on her until u see progress,I dont really like moving rays if I have to but if she already has some scrapes on her I would move her, pups are a little more fragile then adult rays. This is just my opinion im sure u may here some other ideas.

Anybody else? When I add the worms, she'll cover them and poof at the sand, but I can't tell if she actually eats them. She's not really moving around much, and by the time I come back to check on her, the worms are gone, but I can't tell if she ate them, or if she moved and another fish ate them while I wasn't watching.

Should i move her? Leave her alone?

i would prob move her

she should be eating until her butt looks like its gonna explode :D

I think she's eating, just not very much, and not very enthusiastically. I'm going to move her tonight. I just did a wc on the other tank yesterday, so it's nice clean water, and nobody over there should bother her at all.

Anyway you could get her into her own tank?

Unfortunately no. The only tank I have empty right now is a 10g, and I don't even have a filter for it. I just moved her to my other 125g, a peaceful community tank, so hopefully she will settle down, get comfy, and will start eating soon. She's breathing a little harder than earlier, but I think that's due to the stress of being moved.

You haven't tried any other foods on her? She doesn't seem to be real crazy about the nightcrawlers, and she completely ignores market shrimp and silversides. I'm really hoping I won't have to resort to something like live blackworms.

Conner if you can some how keep the other fish off of them mine will sort of attack frozen blood worms. lol

I just wished they would sink faster and in more of a clump. They sort of scatter as they unthaw and sink.

Also my tank had around 20 or so ghost shrimp in it when the ray was put in and they disappeared in the first night. I did not see it eat any but I am pretty sure it did, as the cuda's in the tank have never even payed attention to them. So that may also be a option to get her eating again.

good luck
