Which Vieja and why?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks guys. :)

Though I agree that a large Black Belt would fit quite nicely. I cant help but think how nice a 14" Melanurus would look, or a 16" Bifasciatus, and even (though not a Vieja) a 16" Bocourtii would look sweet too. :)

Good luck with your search. Im sure it wont be an easy one.

You're in FL, you could get shipping from Gage Or Dan (Cichlids of the Americas) cheap! Haven't checked Dan's list lately but I know Gage always has big Vieja.

True, but he does have some 8" Blackbelts and some 5-6" bifas and fenestratus. Gage has some big Argentea, according to the latest list

Dans prices seem really cheap in comparison though

Cant go wrong with any of them like said...I havent kept a lot of them but right now this is my syn amd bifa from dan at cichlidoftheamericas. Also some shots of boc from gauge I just got. I may add some other ones too...

Wow. they all look great. They all going in the new 300?

The Bocourti is starting to frustrate me a little because I keep seeing them and I keep wanting one lol This decision is becoming a problem because now I'm considering adding more than one fish........not that space is an issue(territory maybe) but I had a Gt in the mix with my stock that was an absolute psychopath. second smallest female in the tank and it was obvious quickly it wasn't going to work. she stressed out the festae in my avatar so bad she developed ich and moved to the hospital tank for a month.......rehomed the gt and now the festae is the centerpiece of the system......

which is part of why I want a big male. Last time I introduced a larger male to a grow out for this tank, the other males seemed to calm down a lot. They gave the newcomer a very wide berth and the new larger fish, without knowing it, was in charge of the tank......

now I want two fish....lol

maybe I'll toss a coin. Heads Bocourti, Tails Argentea lol

I hate making decisions

Yeah right now I have a group of fish in a 125...selling the home 240 this weekend then ordering a 300...will actually be closer to a 335 if I add 2" front to back (96x26x30) since my stand has some extra on it. I have a few more fish coming in tomorrow too that will go in the mix. I may have to thing as they grow but for now I want to keep adding lol. i have a small GT too...smallest fish...but so far so good everyone is mixing well in the 125.

sounds like a very cool tank. Can't wait to see it progress......

its pics like this that even make it harder........one of the most beautiful fish Ive ever seen salt or fresh...........
