They can get pretty big as far as aquarium fish go, I've caught them up to around 18", and I'm sure they could get bigger. I've always want to keep them, or wiper. I'm sure they make interesting setups!

I grew up fishing light tackle (my dads standard setup is a 5'6" light action rod with 4 or 6lbs line, and that's pretty much all I used until I was around 14.) I even landed the fish in my avatar (32", 18lbs) on a light action rod and 6lbs line, while fishing for walleye, bass, and trout. When I was about 12, I got a flyrod for Christmas, and by the time I was 14, I was addicted to flyfishing, and now I rarely spinfish. I still tend to use too light of a rod, and it can make things interesting when you hook a bigger fish than you planned!
...now i use my 9 weight

I love fishing for Carp....I just dont release (Carp eat the eggs of other fish so I feed them to some Raccoons near where I fish), I think Carp put up the best fight in North America pound for pound.fisher12889;4103445;4103445 said:Carp are so much fun...they have a bad rap but what other species is available almost everywhere in north America, commonly grows to 10-20lbs plus, and can be targeted with bait, lures, and fly tackle?
