White Giant Gourami/OSPHRONEMUS GORAMY

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm impressed to see that it hasn't gone completely grotest on you yet. They look cool (to me) when they're under 12", but after that...their head looks like something out of Frankenstein!
No offense...your's actually still looks okay by my book

Very impressive GG :)

Nice gouramis! Is yours aggressive?

I dont' think mine is agressive. if you look closely you will see one of the fish's co-inhabitants - a small albino senagalus. The little guy has been sharing home with the GG for about a year.

Also, if I add something big about 3/4 the size of the GG then the GG becomes pretty agressive with the new comer - the GG feels threatened (invasion of his crib). However if you grow something up with the GG, the GG will not bother the grown fish.... (my silver dollars used to be pretty small too, the flourished to their current size) I guess when you introduce something so small the GG does not feel threatened and will leave the new guy alone. when your little grows up, they already have some sort of a recognition of each other, so the agression would no longer be there. Afterall GG are vegetarian fish (although they can be pretty nasty), they rather eat their veggies than chase after other fish for food.

Great looking fish. I miss both of mine. At least when they died my friend ate them and they didn't go to waste. I am surprised your plants are still there. Mine would have eaten those right away, unless of course those are plastic.

This could be a personal preference, I actually like it more when my fish develop those denitions on its head - like the picture of the GG taken at the Shedd aquarium in Chicago, this fish must be at least 7-8 yrs old. (see below).

My family used to keep a common/grey GG for over 14 yrs in a cement pond in Asia, that guy was awsome looks just like the one at the Shedd but bigger. However that grey one was a very agressive fish, when I was little I was very scared to put my hand in his water. That fish would snap at anything thown at it.
