This trait probably happens more often than one would think, but because if the fishs inability to escape predation because of not blending in, you just don't find them that often.

If the bass live in a
pond with a white sand bottom and very clear water then can be white sometimes

No sand in this pond, basically all of it is covered in grass mats. Had to be a color morph of some sorts and not just coloration adaptation. We'll find out when I catch it this weekend
They definitely do exist...I've run across a few pics in various places on the web of some variants.

lol - been fishing for bass in Texas for about 25 years now. I'm pretty sure I know the difference. I'm also positive my buddy knows the difference too. Never seen a pond this size able to support a white bass population. Also no lateral lines or markings so that cancels it out as well.
I hate that this thread has gotten so large and I will probably never see this bass again. I won't give up hope though. bucket and aerator in the truck and fishing poles always.
